Class of 2007 Artie Burton
Lettered four years in
track, three years in football and two years in basketball at FHS
during the 1960's. An All-Great Leaguers League and All-Ohio football
player, he went on to play at Ohio State, where he was a member of the 1969
national championship team
Brenda Cousin
(Branch)
Was a
four time state track runner-up in the 1980's---twice in the 800 and twice
in the 1600 relay. She also won Great :Lakes League cross
country championship in 1984. She went on to become a standout captain ;in
cross country and track at the University of Toledo, where she won a
Mid-American Conference 500-championship.
Cecil
Jackson
Earned a
total of 10 letters in football, basketball and track in the 1960's. earning
All-Great Lakes League recognition in football and basketball. He joins
brothers Grant and Carlos as FHS Hall of Famers.
Dick
Maxwell
A
wrestler and basketball player during his high school years, began his
communications career at the Review Times and then went on to work in the NFL
office for 29 years before his retirement. (in 2006)
Clayton
Moore
Not only
helped FHS reach the football state playoffs. but he was an individual state
qualifier in wrestling and track and field. He went on to play
football at the University of Toledo and now works as an assistant coach for the
Redmen football team.
Dr. James
Murray
A family
physician in Fostoria for 41 years who died last summer,(2007) long served as
doctor for the FHS athletic teams. Also a several term chief of state at
the Fostoria Community Hospital. He was elected to the
Ohio State Football Hall of Fame in 1994
Ronnie
Shumaker
Was a
team captain, team Most Valuable Player and All-Ohio basketball selection
in 1951 when he led the state in scoring.with a 20.2 points per game
average. He was honorable mention All-Ohio as a junior,
A knee injury ended Shumaker's career during his freshman year
at Bowling Green State University. He died in a traffic crash
in 1954.
