PICTURE # 34 MISC 5

We have no idea who these two young ladies are nor what is the occasion. Probably the 4th of July and it looks as though the photo was taken for some purpose--probably the daily newspaper. No date is given but the cannon is probably Civil War and NOT WW I. If so the photo was probably made about the turn of the century.

Not slighting the very pretty ladies in the foreground, the really interesting part of this photo is the background. It was taken from the top of Cemetery Hill, which is where the Hospital is today. It is looking EAST and just to the right of the cannon, and almost parallel with the bottom of its barrel, you can see Portage Creek. It REALLY was a Creek then--nothing much more than a ditch. Further back yet you can see how Fostoria looked in a long line paralleling County Line St. Which of these buildings are still there?
